Reggae Star, Ras Kimono Dies @ 60
Nigerian reggae legend, Ras Kimono passed away Sunday morning in Lagos, Nigeria.
Reports indicated that he was scheduled to travel to the United States Saturday night, but complained of not feeling too well.
He was said to have been rushed to a hospital in Ikeja, Lagos, and later taken to Lagoon Hospital on the Island.
Reports coming in say music veterans, Tony Okoroji and Sir Shina Peters have confirmed Kimono’s passing.
The reggae icon was one of the veterans from the 90s, who continued to remain relevant on the music scene, mentoring and contributing to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Ras Kimono was particularly known for his hit singles ‘Under pressure’ and ‘We no want’.
The music superstar recently celebrated his 60th birthday and his last outing was at the 60th birthday of Afro Juju Music Star, Sir Shina Peters at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos two weeks ago.
