NIGERIA: KANU’S TRIAL STALLED AS FAMILY AND IPOB LEADERSHIP FEUD

Last week, the wife of now detained IPOB leader issued a press release making it clear why IPOB leaders have decided to hire a new lawyer to represent Nnamdi Kanu. It became an open secret today at the Abuja High Court that such decision to change Kanu’s legal counsel did not sit well with Nnamdi Kanu’s family. Vincent Obetta, who represented Kanu from the very start, did not show up at the court. Emmanuel Kanu, who could not hold his anger told the new attorney, hired by IPOB, one Ifeanyi Ejiofor to leave the court premises. Emmanuel maintained that Vincent Obetta remains the legal representative of his brother. An embarrassed Ifeanyi Ejifor left  the court chambers and was  spotted outside the court premises complaining bitterly.

The case never got a mention; since the accused had no attorney, the case remains in limbo.
