NEW EXECUTIVE OF FUTA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SET TO MAKE THE INSTITUTION ACHIEVE GREATER FEATS

The New National Executive Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure Alumni Association rose from a 3-hour meeting, where programmes and a model for execution of value adding ideas in the interest of the development of the Alumni Association was designed.

A lot of ideas were submitted from different offices of the executive and after thoroughly dissecting various ideas, an agreed ideas was arrived at and the entire executive decided to move on to change the status quo and reposition the Alumni Association.

The executive members believe that the government cannot do everything and therefore we have to prepare for whatever might happen in the future that may affect the structural and fundamental principles of the purpose of establishing the school.

The NEC resolved to do the following, learning from the Alumni association of Harvard and other notable world class universities:

  1.  Having a synergy with the School to make FUTA great gain
  2. Private Partnership Participation in the area of infrastructural and research development
  3. Supporting researches through encouraging researchers whose works have added value and/or promising to add value to the institution.
  4. Exploring the nest of the Alumni to assist the school’s infrastructural development
  5. Adopting other developmental steps in strengthening the branches and creating more Alumni branches to sustain the association.

Thereafter, a meeting was held with the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Joseph Adeola Fuwape, who commended the grand steps taken by the new executives and promise to give all the necessary support in the interest of the Alumni.

He also charged the new executive to perform optimally and encourage the younger generation through value adding programmes that will affect the school positively and position the school among the best University of Technology in the world.

He gave an insight into one of his trips to other countries, where FUTA was made a reference point in the area of space development and other notable researches that have been accomplished by the school.

He narrated how proud he was in the presence of other Vice Chancellors in the academic gathering, he therefore encouraged the new team to be up and doing to lift the glory of the school.

In response, the President of the Association, Mr. Adesomoju Olaitan Adesanya, promised the Vice Chancellor on behalf of the new team that the school will not be let down.

The School Registrar, Mr. Adeyinka Arifalo also congratulated the new executives and made them realize that his door is open for any profitable discussion in the interest of the school and that he will be willing to entertain every value adding discussion any time in the interest of the institution.
