Kayode Odukoya’s turbulent season – Ajibade Samson
NIGERIA’S high flying aviation tycoon, Kayode Odukoya is not smiling. Odukoya, whose airline, Belleview, founded in 1992, was at a point the toast of the Nigerian skies and the biggest wing on the West coast route, is now facing turbulent times.
The front man at the first Nation Airways is presently mired in a big fraud case. The airline boss has been charged for alleged stealing, forgery and perjury. In the suit, Odukoya, joined along with Bell view Airline and first Nation had allegedly committed perjury and forgery by the use of false document on March 21, 2013.
The Ogun State born socialite was said to have forged the Memorandum of loss of Lagos state Certificate of occupancy registered as No. 33 at page 33 volume 1011 at Lagos state Land Registry, Alausa, Lagos in order that the document be acted upon as genuine. The alleged forged document was in respect of a property located at No. 29, Oduduwa St., Ikeja GRA. Odukoya was also accused by the EFCC that on October 7, 2016, he allegedly stole and dishonestly converted to his own use N1.7 billion belonging to skye Bank. Efforts were made to get Odukoya arrested and clamped into detention after a request by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) prosecutors who alleged that he has refused to show up in court for the third time.
