Traditional Success and Projects

Oba Alayeluwa Adetoye Mojeed Alatishe is loved by young and old in Ososa ijebu, hence his appointment by the kingmakers of the town as the Gbegande of Ososa Ijebu in a bid to using his wealth of experience in all spheres of life to bring about an even development and put the town on a new pedestal of excellence.

He stated that this was why he felt the need for a resident doctor, which was why he recruited a doctor personally; regretting that no young man or woman loves to work in a remote place and that recruiting someone who would be coming from Ijebu Ode would defeat the word ‘residency.’ So the need to have quarters for the medical personnel arose and he took it up personally and he erected a structure for both the doctors and the nurses for the hospital.

He also commended the foresight of the leadership of the town for choosing the right location for a general hospital.

Today, Ososa Health Centre is the only health centre in Ogun State that has a resident doctor, and Oba (Dr.) Adetoye Mojeed Alatishe is paying the salary of the doctor personally.

Oba Adetoye Mojeed Alatishe stressed the need for job creation, which he said can only be fostered through peace and infrastructure development.

Ososa is now attracting investors based on the peaceful atmosphere in the town and the network of the highly exposed monarch.

As at today, Ososa hosts many fish farmers based on the large river located in the town, which is a source of natural habitation for water foods.

Ososa also host a giant food company which is doing well and employing the indigenes, this is also a plus to the peaceful co-existence in the town.

Another industry that is thriving in Ososa is the tourism industry. Knowing full well that this is the town of the late father of Yoruba Films, Chief Hubert Ogunde, and the family in conjunction with the state government has turned the man’s house into a tourism haven.

The Oba has also facilitated the construction of a palatial palace, and he has worked for the promotion of peace, unity and progress through the introduction of vigilante Group to combat crime in the town. He has facilitated employment for the youth into public and private organizations; both the skilled and the unskilled.

“The Oba also feels Yoruba traditional rulers should return to the status quo and get it right. He believes traditional rulers should keep the sanctity of their offices”.

As far as Oba Alatishe is concerned, the role of Traditional rulers is well defined and cannot be compared to those of elected officers, who have to serve for a specific number of years unlike traditional rulers, who serve for life.

He maintained that this is simple; that a traditional ruler should be more responsible to his people compared to an elected officer and should be concerned about using every opportunity at his disposal to bring about development to the people and the town.

The Oba also feels Yoruba traditional rulers should return to the status quo and get it right. He believes traditional rulers should keep the sanctity of their offices.

IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE IN KEEPING THE CULTURE OF THE PEOPLE, YOU DON’T HAVE BUSINESS IN BECOMING AN OBA – Gbegande of Ososa Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Oba Dr. Adetoye Mojeed Alatishe

He said; “if you don’t believe in keeping the culture and tradition of the people, you don’t have business in becoming an Oba because that is your primary call. People are dynamic, and you cannot use the same method to treat every case, and one of the main things that engender peace in a community is love. If you love people and you show it to them, people will naturally start to love each other, by the time you rule people with draconian laws, it is natural that they will be withdrawn from you, and it will also reflect on the society because people will believe it is practical and that is the way to live.

“My position is that everybody here is my son and my daughter. I relate with everyone with love, and this is a continuous process that will enhance development in every area.”

Just before the interview ended, the monarch commended the ingenuity of the publishers of Movietainment Magazine and promised to continue to identify with the publication and its ideals.
