Chris Okaeben And His 30Million Vote Buying Gang – IDEDE Oseyande
It was the popular Nigerian artist, Davido, that made the “30billion for the account” trend in one of his songs. Ever since, Nigerians have often questioned the financial worth of anyone by asking, “if the person has 30billion in his account”. However, Christopher Okaeben, the member currently representing Oredo West in the Edo State House of Assembly, seems to have a remix of that song in his new political campaign slogan.
Before resulting in financial intimidation, Chris has been going about threatening the supporters of the two main opposition contesting against his reelection. With his popularity and that of his party fading geometrically on a daily basis, he is becoming desperate by the day. At first, he was bragging that the “small boys” contesting against him are mere political greenhorns, that are only out to test the waters and not to win. When the political water started warming up, he extends a sly hand of fellowship to the candidate from his ward, under another political party, ADC, in an attempt to buy him over. He was rebuffed by the young man, who made it clear to him that he was set to give him a run for his money. Chris, thinking he knows the financial capacity of the guy, joking told his supporters that when Mighty Man (the Federal Rep Candidate in ADC) runs out of cash, the chicken will come home to roost.
The political water was still conducive enough for him to swim; and he bathed for as long as he liked, basking in the euphoria of his incumbency, and being a candidate of the ruling party, APC. He boasted on social media that he is “jejely” taking his amala in ward 6, unperturbed of the small boys running against him. Like a tortoise caught up in his haughtiness, the PDP candidate took the constituency like a flood. Moving from ward to ward and gaining political patronage and love from the people, at an alarming and astounding rate. The political waters became warm, and the increasing heat soon sent a signal to Chris and his gang. It was now clear that these young candidates are not underdogs as he had before assumed. So he launched out his gangs in five branded buses, going about threatening fire and brimstone on any youth that supports the other candidates. Every young influential political figure is visited with a stern warning to stay clear from both the ADC and PDP candidates, or face their wrath.
Ab initio, one would think these are just mere political propaganda to smear the names of the opposition, but with photo evidence and persons coming out as witnesses, it became necessary to let the public know. In Constain area, Aburime, James Watt, New Era, Edokpolor and its environs, Chris Okaeben gang had been going around trying to coerce those supporting other candidates to either join him or leave the ward. As that is not yielding the desired fruits, he launched the new 30million gang, telling electorates that care to listen, that his fellow contestants don’t have 30million naira to buy votes come March the 2nd, 2019.
This is to notify Chris and his 30 million riffraff, that just as they have been made to understand that they don’t have the monopoly of violence, they should always be ready as an attempt to buy votes in Oredo West in general, will be vehemently rejected and opposed.
The people cannot stand another four years of darkness. They can’t stand another four years of self-serving representation.
INEC will be duly notified in due course!
Chris and his henchmen should remember the wise saying, “those who make peaceful resolution impossible, make violence inevitable”.
