Buhari remains only Nigerian with global appeal for leadership group tells Nigerians
The National Coalition of Patriots, (NCP) has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari is the only Nigerian with global appeal for leadership.
NCP said President Buhari deserves all the needed support to lead the nation to the greater heights in 2019.
The group in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Barrister Abayomi Ariyo, called on Nigerians to stand up against some looters who are only out to milk the nation’s treasury dry.
Ariyo while addressing a press conference on Sunday, argued that “President Muhammadu Buhari has also demonstrated the capacity and a commitment to leave Nigeria better than the way he met it by ensuring zero tolerance for those vices that had set us back as a people and as a nation over the years”.
NCP spokesman said, “The National Coalition of Patriots, (NCP) a non- governmental organization dedicated to the entrenchment of good governance, peace, and stability in Nigeria, wishes to alert Nigerians on the plot to launch a campaign aimed at discrediting President Muhammdu Buhari by some unscrupulous elements that do not mean well for the country.
“The NCP, after a careful analysis of the state of the Nation, herby affirms that Nigeria is indeed on the path of greatness given the leadership strides of President Muhammadu Buhari. The NCP commissioned a survey in the 36 states of the federation, including the federal capital territory in an attempt to get the views of the people on the key performance index in the critical sectors of health, education, security, infrastructure and agriculture.
“The survey results corroborated other assessment that are in the public domain as regards the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari. And by virtue of this, we wish to lend our voice to the acceptability and suitability of President Muhammadu Buhari in leading Nigeria to greatness in the next four years.
“It is also so our considered opinion that given the aforementioned, President Muhammadu Buhari deserves a second term in office to consolidate on his achievements. This is also mindful of the fact that amongst the litany of candidates, vying for the Office of the President, only President Muhammadu Buhari has demonstrated through his words and actions that the interest of Nigeria as a while should and will always supersede individual, ethnic and religious interests.
“President Muhammadu Buhari is also a leader with global appeal, and one whose integrity and commitment to the socio-economic advancement of Nigeria has earned Nigeria its pride of place in the comity of Nations.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has also demonstrated the capacity and a commitment to leave Nigeria better than the way he met it by ensuring zero tolerance for those vices that had set us back as a people and as a nation over the years.
Given the circumstances that we have found ourselves, it is therefore imperative for Nigerians to be wary of the sweet-talking politicians that have in times past used and abused public office for personal aggrandizement.
“These same set of politicians have launched the various campaign of defamation against President Muhammdu Buhari because, since 2015, the business of dipping of hands into government coffers has stopped and as such, all must be deployed to see that President Muhammdu Buhari is discredited before the unsuspecting electorates.
“While this might be the disposition of the bulk of those that do not mean well for the country, it is however instructive to state that the ordinary man and woman on the streets that have been affected positively by the laudable leadership style of President Muhammadu Buhari, are more than resolute to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari is re-elected come 2019.
“We hereby state in unequivocal terms that President Buhari has indeed written his name in gold, and as such It will be natural to expect victory ahead of polls.
“Nigerians must stand up for truth and progress in this critical point of our existence. Nigerians must ensure that the various options bandied around by agents of darkness are resisted wholly.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us and not a select few, as has been the case in times past. The Commonwealth of the country is for all Nigerians and not a few Nigerians. And this much President Muhammadu Buhari has demonstrated since he assumed leadership of the country.
“In his inauguration speech where he declared that he “belongs to everybody and belongs to nobody” still resonates three years after. This is indeed a testament to his strength of character and not one that double –speak.
“The NCP, therefore, urges Nigerians to disregard the campaign of calumny aimed at discrediting the good works of President Muhammad Buhari in a desperate attempt to short-change Nigerians with a bad option. There is no better alternative amongst the litany of candidates. A bird at hand is better than a million in the skies”.
