ACP Ekpo drowns on Valentine’s Day

The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Area K Command, Morogbo, Badagry, of the Lagos State Police Command, Osung Ekpo, who hail from Akwa Ibom state has drowned in a hotel swimming pool in the Ajah area of the state. He was in company of couple of friends and after having engaged in some physical exercise, he dived into water which had been his hobby but luck ran against him on Sunday February 14, 2016, the Valentine’s Day when he did the last dive and never returned alive.

Sources have it that ACP Ekpo was a friendly, fatherly and loving personality, a police with a difference, his remains had been deposited in the morgue awaiting autopsy to unravel the cause of his death but no foul play is suspected until the autopsy report is released by the medical personnel’s.

Sources claimed that Ekpo was a pleasant officer, and he had been effective in most of the operations carried out in the command. An instance was the last bank robbery in Agbara, Ogun State.

“Through his efforts as the Area Commander in Morogbo, Badagry, he and his men in conjunction with the Rapid Response Squad successfully foiled the move by the robbers to infiltrate Lagos State. And that was why we were able to cage them on water.

“He also led the operation to recover the gunboats and canoes used by the robbers which led to their eventual arrest. Since July that I came, we have not recorded any bad incident in the state from that area.”
